It was 8:30 pm on Saturday when Mckenzie decided to leave her dorm. She knew exactly where she wanted to go, she knew exactly what she wanted to do, and did not care who she was with. She lived from her confidence, she loved spending time with complete strangers because that way, you could do whatever the hell you wanted, and forget about it the next day... Maybe. As long as Mckenzie was having fun, she didn't care what happened to her, she didn't care what she did, and she didn't care how it ended. She loved living in the moment, because that's how the happy people live. Happiness was one of Mckenzie's favourite emotions, you just can't go wrong with it. There's no negatives, and it's all positive. There's no such thing as having too much fun, and there's no such thing as being too happy. To Mckenzie, that was all that mattered.
She was heading over to the Spotlight Nightclub, on the west side of Bluewater Bay. She'd been here last week, at night, trying to find something to do, but failing to get in anywhere on the west side. She knew there could be a lot of weird people around that place, and Mckenzie, with all her confidence and self esteem, knew she was attractive in a lot of ways, and that people would go for her since she looked defenseless and weak. They were wrong, Mckenzie was a lot stronger than they'd ever know. Physically and emotionally. She could kill a guy with words, if she really wanted to. She smiled at the thought.
The streets were dark, illuminated by tall lights and neon signs, there were a few people around, since it was Saturday and all, but most of them minded their own business, and got on with their jobs, whatever they were. At least if anyone did decide to attack her, there would be other people around to help her out. She'd just stick to the main roads and avoid alleys and stuff. Places where freaks like to hang out, in the shadows. A building, more lit up and louder than most came into view as Mckenzie turned a right corner. In huge neon letters, there was a sign shouting 'SPOTLIGHT NIGHTCLUB'. Wow, it looked so inviting. Mckenzie would love to get in there, just once. She always changed her looks before trying to get in, but she could never provide proof, so she never got in.
As she reached her destination, she noticed a large line going up to the doors. She sighed and stood at the back. More and more people seemed to join on every second, and the line was moving extremely slow. On her way she made small conversation with the guy stood behind her. He looked a little like a punk, with piercings, dark clothing, tattoos and hair that could be noticed a mile away. To most, he looked kind of intimidating, but Mckenzie found he was nicer than he looked, though he was a little guarded. She didn't mind that much, since she probably wouldn't see him in the future anyways. When she finally reached the front of the line, the bouncer looked over her and asked for her proof of age, like he always did. "I'm eighteen, don't I look it?" She asked innocently, lifting her arms up in that 'oh shit, not again' way. He shook his head, she sighed, looking around. What the hell could she do now? She refused to be kicked out of the line again.
He was waiting, rather impatiently, she noticed. "Hold on, my friend's in this line somewhere," she lied for the third time in a minute. She randomly grabbed some guy's arm and pulled him up next to her, "Oh my God, please tell this guy I'm eighteen. He doesn't believe me." She shot a meaningful look at the stranger, like 'back me up, please!'. She was desperate to be let through this time, she hadn't waited this long to be sent away. She turned to the bouncer before saying, "By the way, my friend is called Joe. Isn't that right, Joe?" She had no idea what she was getting herself into, but if the stranger didn't play along with her, she'd be in deep shit with everyone.

Saturday was, most definitely, Corbin’s favourite day of the week. For a start, obviously, there was no school. So, you could sleep for as long as you wanted (with the exception of carers or parents waking you up) without worrying about anything you were missing. Sunday was the day for homework and all that crap; it was a free day, to just laze around and do whatever you wanted. At least until evening began to creep in and night took a hold over the normal city, causing it to become a stronghold of activity and excitement. And, of course, Saturday night was the official night of partying, misbehaving, and generally having a fucking great time.
And having a great time was what the seventeen year old was planning to do; but, for the few years he’d lived in this place, he still lacked knowledge of real good places to party. There was the Under 21 club, yes, but honestly what was partying without the thrill of underage drinking and doing things you shouldn’t? There was none of that in a silly under 21s club. The only other place he knew was the Spotlight Nightclub. But he wasn’t eighteen… “Screw it,” he muttered to himself out loud. What was life without sneaking around a few times?
Corbin quickly got changed into a nicer outfit - he couldn’t exactly go to the nightclub looking like he’d just woke up. He flicked his hair straighteners on, then picked out his tightest pair of skinny jeans, and a shirt to go with it. Now they were heated up, he picked up the straighteners, carefully straightening his hair - currently dyed a blond brown colour - to perfection. After a moment’s hesitation, he threw on a beanie hat onto his freshly straightened hair as well. He paused, completely still, angling to hear if his mother was in - which she was. Quietly he walked down the stairs, waiting until he’d opened the door before shouting, “I’m going out, Mom!” to avoid any questions of exactly where he was going.
He was down the road probably before his mom had even realised he was gone. Ah, freedom. It felt so good to walk around the town, just as things were getting a bit darker. Just as the parties were starting. Now that Corb was on his way, it finally began to occur to him that chances were he’d be rejected at the doors of the club. Even though he didn’t look terribly young or anything, the bouncers had probably learned the game of sixteen- and seventeen- year olds well enough to ask everyone for ID. Which sort of sucked. Maybe he should have borrowed a friend’s ID? Well, it was too late now. He’d just have to wing it and hope for the best.
Arriving at the club, he suddenly had some more downcast thoughts. First off, the bouncer looked like a pretty intimidating guy. Corbin, though not really short, was very skinny and scrawny, so any tough guys scared the crap out of him, to be quite frank. Second, the line was freaking huge. Apparently everybody had the same idea of a Saturday night; sneak into a club, party, get wasted, forget everything but just remember you had the best time of your life. Shit. Things weren’t exactly going to plan yet. Maybe he could sneak into the line and slip past? He stepped forward, pretending to observe the posters while at the same time attempting to secretly wriggle into the line.
He was about half successful when he felt somebody grab him. At first, the junior felt terrified, instantly thinking it was a bouncer noticing him try to sneak in. Feelings of regrets built up already, he prepared to begin to stammer an apology, probably with a ‘please don’t hurt me’ beg thrown in somewhere. Yeah, Corbin was a wimp. He couldn’t help it. But before he could even begin voicing how sorry he was, he realised who’d grabbed him. A girl. Probably around his age, maybe a bit older. He heard what she said to the bouncer. ‘Oh my God, please tell this guy I'm eighteen. He doesn't believe me.’ Confusion filled him at once, and then he cottoned on. Ah, so this girl was also under eighteen, desperate to get in the club. Well, he’d back her up for sure; they were on the same team, after all, and if he could get her in, he’d go in too.
‘By the way, my friend is called Joe. Isn't that right, Joe?’ … Joe? Corbin pushed down the splutter of laughter that rose at her spontaneous invention of a name. Wow. But he nodded all the same to the bouncer. “Mm, she’s eighteen. Got ahead of me in the line… sorry if you doubted her though. She’s a crazy girl, never acts his age.” He nodded again to emphasize his words. “C’mon, can we go through?” He watched carefully as the bouncer took it into consideration, then let them through. Corbin grinned internally. The bouncer had probably had a long night and probably didn’t care anymore if anyone underage slipped through. “C’mon,” he murmured to the girl who’d grabbed him, grabbing her wrist lightly and pulling her through the doors into the nightclub.
Everything had definitely gone better than expected: he’d inadvertently jumped the whole line, and now he was in the club… with a pretty good looking girl. He pulled her gently to a quieter corner of the club, and promptly burst out laughing. “Joe? Nice thinking back there.” He grinned softly. “I’m Corbin, and I think we had the same idea today… I’m only seventeen.” His grin turned into a smirk. “And you?” He waited for her response, already feeling that the night was off to a fantastic start.

At first, Mckenzie had a bad feeling that this stranger was going to go against everything she was saying, and get her kicked out of the line. The suspense was terrible, it was almost like watching one of those awful drama shows on t.v where anything could happen, and when it's getting right to the best bit, the advertisements suddenly pop up and last for ten freakin' minutes. Seriously, though, he was quiet for a long time, or so it seemed. She was sure the bouncer was just gonna say 'get the fuck out' anyways... But then he spoke, and took Mckenzie by surprise. She was 99% sure he was just going to say 'I don't know this girl, she's crazy', but he didn't, in fact, he just went along with it all and didn't even laugh. He was a good actor, she'd give him that one. She silently breathed a sigh of relief, then realising that the person she had quickly named Joe, was probably here for the exact same reason as her. To sneak in and have a good time.
The bouncer was also silent for a moment, making his decision, and finally let both of them through, Mckenzie grinned her thanks to him and then felt herself being pulled lightly through the double doors. Inside it was crazy, neon lights everywhere, girls and boys drinking themselves stupid, dancing, laughing, talking, flirting, kissing... It was amazing. Mckenzie knew she was in for a good night right away. She was gonna get drunk, she was gonna dance, and hang around with this amazing guy who was pulling her around right then. She couldn't help but smile when they were both in the quieter corner of the club. Now she could get a good look at him, she wouldn't lie. She had chosen the right guy. He had great looks, and an awesome personality to match by the seems of it. She couldn't ask for more... Or could she?
"Thanks! Nice to meet you, Corbin, I'm Mckenzie!" she said to him, loud enough for him to hear her over the overly loud techno music, "That's right, I'm seventeen too, thanks for backing me up back there. No one else would." She laughed brightly. Mckenzie was in fact a girl with a very bright personality, "I'm really sorry about calling you Joe, that's just about the worst name in the world. So boring, right? It was the first thing I thought of, though." She smiled, he was really friendly towards her. It was hard to know who you could trust these days, especially with all the creeps around at night. Even in the day... Sometimes. Though Corbin didn't seem to be a weirdo, he seemed to be just like her.
She looked back at the glowing bar again, feeling the itch to just go over there and drink everything she could. Yes, that was binge drinking, but it was only once, right? How much harm could it do? The lights on it were so inviting. They seemed to scream 'COME OVER HERE'. She smiled at the thought, and then caught Corbin's smirk. She loved it when guys smirked, it was just so... Sexy... And attractive... And beautiful. She grabbed his hand, though he was still a stranger, and started pulling him along lightly, just as he did to her a couple of moments ago. "Can I buy you a drink?" She asked with a smile, her eyes reflecting the strobe lights around them. Everything was so busy... It was her kind of place.
