PERSONALITY: - Bold: not hesitating to break the rules of propriety; forward; impudent. Teagan doesn't care about rules, unwritten rules, or traditions. If she wants to do something, she will, and if she has something on her mind, it's a good bet that she'll say it, no matter how improper or rude the act or words are. However, she does have enough sense to act properly in sensitive situations.
- Opinionated: having and stubbornly keeping to an opinion or opinions. If there's something to have an opinion on, Teagan probably has a very strong opinion on it. Not only does she have an opinion on everything, but she lets people know her opinions, in a loud manner. She will obstinately stick to her ideas, even when someone tries to reason with her. Very rarely will she change her opinion, especially because of someone else's arguments.
- Outgoing: interested in and responsive to others; friendly; sociable. Teagan is a very sociable person. She loves to be out, doing something, with people. She's very loud, and can sometimes get a little wild. She has no problem going up to a stranger and starting up a conversation; there isn't a shy bone in her body.
- Fearless: without fear; bold or brave; intrepid; Teagan is pretty much fearless, at least, that's what she wants people to believe. In reality, she is terrified of being hurt again, like she was when she lost Joshua, as well as being afraid of heights and small spaces, but she never lets people see how scared she is. Instead, she simply avoids situations in which she would appear vulnerable, such as taking the stairs instead of the elevator, and keeping a distance when it comes to relationships.
- Secretive: having or showing a disposition to secrecy; reticent; Teagan is very good at not letting other people in. She doesn't show her emotions, and pretty much hides anything important. People don't expect there to be something wrong with her, because of her bold and outgoing exterior, but inside, a lot goes on that no one else knows about, and that's the way she needs it. It's not good for anyone to bottle things up, but she doesn't know how to let go of old habits and let someone in.
- Masochist: the tendency to find pleasure in denial, submissiveness, pain, etc. Perhaps because of her background, though her mother never touched her, Teagan likes pain. Plain and simple. She enjoys being tied up in the bedroom, or whipped, or told what to do during sex. She is very submissive in the bedroom, though in the rest of her life she is very independent. When in difficult situations, she will dig her nails into the palm of her hands, because the pain helps clear her mind.
THE FAMILY & HISTORY, FATHER: Julian Lande ;; 46 ;; Unemployed MOTHER: Shannon Lande ;; 51 ;; Photojournalist SIBLINGS: Harper Lande ;; 20 ;; Music major OTHER PEOPLE: Husband: Joshua Pederson ;; Deceased Son: Wyatt Pederson ;; 2 ;; Put up for adoption Joshua's Mother: Elaine Pederson ;; 54 ;; Pastry chef Joshua's Father: Henry Pederson ;; 56 ;; Surgeon HISTORY: Teagan had somewhat of an odd family life. Her parents, Shannon Lande and Julian Mason, met, as many couples do, in college. Shannon was several years older than Julian, getting her masters in photojournalism, while he was only a freshman undergraduate. After he expressed some interest in bondage, Shannon introduced Julian to an S&M society, in which she was a respected Mistress. After four years, she asked him to marry her, which would also make him her full time 'slave', and he accepted. Shannon's parents were rich, and they were able to move into a nice sized house in Dallas, Texas.
Most S&M couples choose not to have children, but Shannon had always wanted a baby. Teagan was born two and a half years after her parents marriage, and her little sister, Harper, was born a year later. Julian had the most influence in their baby and toddler years; he acted as the stay at home mother, while Shannon worked. As the girls grew, however, he moved to the background. Shannon had the only say in how they were raised: what was allowed, setting the rules. Though Julian continued to watch them while Shannon was working, Teagan learned quickly to never ask him for permission for anything, and instead to go straight to her mother.
Though biologically, Julian was her father, Teagan didn't think of him as such. She called him by his first name, thinking of him more as just the guy who lived in the house, perhaps even something like a servant. From her mother she learned to be independent, and obstinate. When she was six, they saw a movie about horses, and she decided she wanted to learn to ride. After pestering her mother for weeks, Shannon finally got her into lessons. Riding became her passion, until she entered sixth grade.
Every year, the sixth graders did a Shakespeare play. Harper pushed Teagan to audition, though she didn't really want to. That year they were doing Romeo and Juliet, and Teagan got Juliet. After spending several weeks rehearsing, and performing the actual play, Teagan found she loved acting. Though she continued to ride, the amount she rode lessened, becoming a weekend only event. She started taking acting classes, and participated in every play during her middle school and high school years, starring in most of them.
In her sophomore year of high school, Teagan met Joshua Lark, who had just transferred from Brentwood. They dated all through the rest of high school, and after graduation Joshua enlisted in the military. Though Teagan didn't want him to go, she couldn't seem to talk him out of it. She had been accepted to UCLA, but two weeks after Joshua was deployed, she found out she was pregnant. He wanted to keep the baby, so she moved in with his family, and got a job as a waitress, instead of going away to school. By the time Joshua came home, little Wyatt had been born. They were married a month later.
Joshua had signed a three year contract, and had to leave on his second tour. Teagan struggled to raise Wyatt, even with the help Joshua's family gave, and even considered putting him up for adoption. Joshua wouldn't hear of it. On Wyatt's first birthday, Teagan got a visitor, telling her her husband had been killed. During the first weeks after the awful news, Teagan spent most of her time isolated, grieving. Joshua's parents were forced to take care of Wyatt full time, while grieving themselves. When she was finally able to think straight, Teagan made the decision to give Wyatt up, knowing she couldn't raise him without a husband.
Teagan stayed with Joshua's parents, not feeling up to moving back home, and not really seeing a need. Harper, who had started school, majoring in music, tried her best to help Teagan out, though it was hard, being away at school. Finally, Teagan couldn't take any more sympathy, or seeing the familiar faces; she had to get away from all the memories. She applied for colleges, without telling anyone, and moved to Bluewater Bay, California, telling her family only a month before she left. Though she is twenty one, this is her freshman year, and she is majoring in Theatre Acting.
