PERSONALITY: if you were to ask leo if the glass is half full or empty, he would tell you a glass can never be empty. even if there is nothing tangible inside, it is still filled to the brim with air. leo is an optimist, to the highest extent. he wears his heart on his sleeve, and will always pass love and not judgement. From a young age he's understood how complex every person is, including himself--Leo knows that nothing is ever black and white, there is a lot of grey area too. Leo is an easy person to be friends with, he's a listener, he's a shoulder. He's easy going--a goofball.
THE FAMILY & HISTORY, FATHER: michael hayes, 48, married MOTHER: galleria hayes, 43, married SIBLINGS: nada. OTHER PEOPLE: nada. HISTORY: Leo's life started as ordinary as anyone's. He was born to Michael and Galleria Hayes in New York City. Both his parents were doctors, however his mother gave up practicing as soon as he was born. Leo very well had an easy childhood, he was given whatever new toy he wanted, he grew into his pre-adolescent years and he was given what video games he wanted, he started high school and he bought whatever clothes, books, and liquor he wanted. One thing Leo didn't want was presented to him the day before his seventeenth birthday--a recurring heart condition.
It wasn't too bad to start with, hardly affected Leo's life, minus the trips to his dad's clinic, and listening to the hushed conversations between his father and a collegue. Leo continued his life, he quit sports, he started reading more, he knew this was just a phase that would quickly pass--all these details would be reset soon enough.
And so it was, in a few months, Leo was healthy again. He joined varsity teams, but everyone treated him differently. He would recieve stares in the hallways, and people around him acted like he was fragile--on the very cusp of breaking into two pieces. Very little actually gets to Leo, but this angered him to no extent, and he found himself constantly lashing out at those he felt closest to. He isolated himself from his friends, dumped his girlfriend. He let his illness get the better of him.
The end of senior year, the condition resurfaced again. Leo was devastated, but even more devastated was his father one day at work. Leo's doctor told him that the condition had worsened, and there was little to nothing that could be done for his son. At most, the young Mr Hayes had two years to live.
Leo quickly told his parents he didn't want to live in New York anymore. He was done with everyone treating him differently, if he was going to live his last few months, it would be somewhere no one knew what was wrong with him. So they packed up and moved to Blue Water, California.
