"Of all the money that ere I had
I spent it in good company
And all the harm I've ever done
Alas it was to none but me."

Though only a half-hour had passed, German Hans White was exhausted. He was one of the bartenders at CoCo's, and though he took his job seriously, he was tired of how busy this place could get, so fast. Matter of fact, when he got here earlier, this place was about deserted. But now? It was flourishing with bargoers. No other bartenders were here, and he wondered if they were just sick, or skipping out.
Today, under his new leather jacket, he sported a bright orange Queen shirt, its neon colour muted by the dim lighting of the bar area. On his arms, he sported rubber band-logo bracelets, and on his legs, his favourite pair of old jeans. This was just how he liked to be dressed when he was bartending- he could move, and he was comfortable. His long hair hung down today, as it did most days, and he was wearing his seashell necklace, which reminded him of all the surfing he was missing as he mixed drinks. He was a talented surfer, but he didn't want it to be his whole life. After all, there were certainly better things to do.
You could say that German's life motto was 'Why waste your life frowning, when you could smile?'. But today, he was so tired that he had to force his smile. It was convincing, yes, to drunk men. Hopefully he'd get an energy burst real soon; God knows he needed one. This job could take the steam right out of a person. German wasn't much of a drinker himself, but he sure knew how to make them- it was his other talent. He really only liked strawberry daiquiris and the occasional margarita. Sometimes he had a beer with some of his former college buddies, but it wasn't much his liking. But to each his own, eh?
As another new face appeared at the bar, German took the young woman's order. Straight up Vodka. Seriously? he asked himself, but did as she asked. It seemed like she might already be drunk, though he hadn't served her before. What was she doing here then? Oh well. With a smile, he brought her the drink she'd so plainly ordered, and looked around for the next customer. This was going to be another long shift.
But long shifts were nothing. He did them daily. Tomorrow, he could get out and go surfing. And maybe next year, he could finally take that trip to Ireland, where he'd been dreaming of going. Travelling was something he fancied, though he'd been stuck in Bluewater Bay his entire life.
One day, he'd get out into the world. But for now, it would be back to bartending he would go.

And drink a health whatere befall
Then gently rise and softly call
Goodnight and joy be to you all!"
